Rock Creek
Productions is creating a documentary on the ocean liner S.S. United
States. Commissioned
in 1952 she was considered the "Flagship
of America" and the most advanced liner ever built. She set sail
soon after the end of World War II at a time when our country was bound
together by the tides of war. To this day she still holds the speed record
for crossing the Atlantic. After 17 years of perfect service she was decommissioned
and sadly sits rusting in the Philadelphia harbor awaiting her fate.
Our goal is to tell the story of this great ship through the eyes of
those who built her, worked aboard her, traveled upon her, or have
memories
attached to her. It is a story of the culture, the times, the people,
and the greatness of a nation put forth in the embodiment of one magnificent
ship, the S.S. United States.
